I was asked to provide an opening speech outlining some of the current LGBT issues for staff and students in HE today. Areas I covered included: transition to HE; an inclusive curriculum; induction/Freshers Week; international LGBT students; employability; internships and placements; welfare support; accommodation; extra-curricular activities and sport and the importance of working closely with students’ unions on all these issues.
